Drive across Crete’s narrowest isthmus and see the city of Ierapetra with its promenade and port. Admire the Toplou Monastery with high bell tower and impressive history. Relax on the beautiful palm beach of Vai, and stroll in alleys of the harbour town Sitia. Keep your camera ready to make pictures of the stunning view on the Mirabello Gulf and the Minoan settlement Gournia.

Visit Heraklion the lively capital of Crete. Stroll around and see the colourful streets and daily market. See in the Archaeological Museum an amazing collection of Minoan items or walk in the Historical Museum with painting of El Greco. At the palace of Knossos, centre of the Minoan civilisation, you’ll wonder at the technology and facilities of that period. In the vineyard region of Crete wineries welcome visitors for wine tasting. Do not miss the Epanosifi monastery, before driving to Matala on the coastline of the Libyan Sea.
Enjoy the breath-taking view from the palace of Phaestos. Visit also the Kalivianni monastery that identifies faith and worship with social offer and charity. In the old Roman town of Gortys, you can see the stones bearing the famous law code and the ruins of the first Christian basilica, the Saint Titus Cathedral. In Zaros, situated south of Mount Ida are trout farms next to the artificial lake.

Pack up your entire luggage as you head up towards the north. See Agia Galini, a picturesque village with shops, taverns and cafe’s. Stop at Spili to see the water spring with Venetian lion heads. You reach the beautiful located Preveli monastery via the impressive Kourtaliotiko Gorge. The coastal village Plakias is an ideal place to enjoy lunch on the seashore.
The village Vrisses is famous for its small dairies taste here homemade yoghurt with honey. Visit the lovely convent of Chrisopigi, in its museum you see fine traditional embroideries made by nuns. Hania has a pleasant old city centre. Stroll through the alleys leading to the Venetian port or walk in the indoor market to see local goods.
The Lefka Ori (White Mountains) are an ideal place for walking trips. The impressive Imbros Gorge is 7 km long and the world famous Samaria Gorge, 18 km long.
Discover the enjoyable center of Rethymnon town. It still maintains its old aristocratic appearance, a mixture of Venetian and Turkish influences. Visit the Arkadi Monastery; due to the holocaust it suffered in 1866, it is like a memorial for the freedom of the Turkish occupation. In the lovely village of Margarites you can see small pottery workshops. Worth visiting is also the Sfedoni cave with impressive stalagmites and stalactites.
