Arrival in Crete. After completing the car rental formalities, you are about to start your holidays. Drive to the picturesque port town Rethymnon and enjoy the colourful oleander along the road.
Travel in the western part of Crete and take the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful nature. Visit Vrisses to taste homemade yoghurt with honey, or go to Margarites with its small ceramic pottery shops. Meet the inhabitants and make a chat. Discover on foot the old city centre of Rethymnon and walk through the alleys with Venetian facades to the port. Go south to cross the impressive Kourtaliotiko Gorge, to see the Preveli monastery and to make a swim in the Libyan Sea. Explore also Chania town with its typical alleys and indoor market hall within all kind of shops selling local products. Visit the lovely convent of Chrisopigi and see in its museum the fine handmade embroideries. Stop at Lake Kournas to taste pure Cretan cooking or unwind on a terrace on the lake side.
